Ain't no gray clouds above me Got no worries to bug me 'Cause there's nothing out there to stop me From feeling this great feeling that I have And there's no way I can be sad In spite of the demons that well up inside of my soul And threaten to swallow my sanity whole 'Cause I'm wide-eyed happy, yes I am And you can be wide-eyed happy if you follow my plan You gotta grab a new smile and then put it on your face Start popping Xanax 'till your heart starts to race Then you won't feel a thing from that dark evil place Deep inside And pretty soon you'll see you'll be happy like me. I'm feeling so elated My pupils are dialated You can't feel down when you're medicated There is no way I feel I can lose In spite of twenty years of sexual abuse At the hands of my Dad and my mom and their dog and their cat Their neighbors and friends but despite all of that I am wide-eyed happy, yes I am And you can be wide-eyed happy if you follow my plan You gotta grab a new smile and then put it on your face Start popping Paxil 'till your heart starts to race Then you won't feel a thing from that dark evil place Deep inside And pretty soon you'll see you'll be happy like me. You know there isn't anything that you can't do If you just put your mind to it Whenever you're feeling all down and blue You gotta start repressing some memories So sing a song when you get right to it Don't you know I'm wide-eyed happy, yes I am And you can be wide-eyed happy if you follow my plan You gotta slam every beer that you have in your place Pop a million Prozac 'till your heart starts to race Then you won't feel a thing from that dark evil place Deep inside And pretty soon you'll see you'll be happy like me. And if you can't start to feel the laughter Or find the end of the pain you are after You can smile with the knowledge that pain Won't be in the hereafter

I love you, baby Don't leave me, baby I won't leave you Forgive me baby I love You won't forgive me I forgive you Baby, don't leave me I love you, baby Don't leave me, baby I won't leave you Forgive me baby I love you I forgive you, baby I love you

The radio alarm went off again Don't bother reaching for the snooze Listen to an hour of morning zoo and then I finally kick the covers loose I take a shower, eat, and go to work And my mind is still at the same dead end I come back home and turn the TV on Contemplate the day Repeat the motions again This life is not what I'd call wonderful Trapped inside a modern Bedford Falls Still, Pottersville would be worth paying a call If it would help me lose this ball and chain I would run away completely free Any solace would be a real godsend But, like George Bailey, I can't leave this place Clarence, take me away I need a new happy end You do your time so you've got it made But it doesn't quite work that way They never say there's more dues to pay Now you're hanging in limbo Plotting your next escape Exchange your passions for necessities Your dreams and wishes put on hold You wave goodbye to opportunities And watch yourself keep growing older If you're the lucky few who do escape You can do what you want and not pretend If ever I get out of here someday Hope that I can say It all makes sense at the end

A 60-cycle hum hangs over the air A tiny, buzzing B Hit the tuner and it's gone A quick adjustment to the strings by the player The fans begin to scream He takes a pick and starts the song The music wafts like incense of the ears The trance takes listeners near and far The roadies bob their heads But as for me, I'm stuck standing here Without my friend Guitar Wish I could do more instead Guitar always says that I'm one of the team I wish the player could see things the same way When all you do is give support, it always seems Appreciation would be nice to have someday Guitar always says that I'm the best friend around But it seems to me Guitar has all the fun What can a stand do when you cannot make a sound? He has all the talent, I wish that I had some Guitar says that he loves life in the Limelight The universal dream A dream I once did share When we were new, I used to hang in the backlights The amp beside me wailed and screamed How I wish I'd return there Guitar always says that I'm a unique soul He doesn't know what my life is and why I fight it The thing is I know it's only rock and roll But I like it

Goodbye, everybody We had some fun, but now it's time to go Goodbye, everybody We'd like to stick around, but don't you know We did our very best To write some clever songs Now the only thing that we can do Is say to you all, "So long" Goodbye, everybody Not a snowball's chance in Hell of moving on Goodbye, everybody Wonder if someone will miss us when we're gone We did our very best To write some clever songs Now the only thing that we can do Is say to you all, "So long" So long

about

Before Cameron Accola and Hazen Nester became known as Quiet Desperation, they participated in Fred Entertainment's Masters of Song Fu competition. These six tracks prepresents their body of work before their official debut as QD. Some tracks are okay, some not as much. In any case, it is through Song Fu that they have cut their teeth in regards to their songwriting and recording techniques and, in the interest of posterity, these tracks have been compiled here in their original mixes. Enjoy.
